Tution Fees Text Poll

Sarah launched a text poll on tuition fees. Describing tuition fees as an unfair tax on students, Sarah said “Tuition fees will be one of the key issues to many at the forthcoming General Election. Many people are now suffering horrendous levels of debt because of Labour’s broken promise on this issue.” The Liberal Democrats are committed to scrapping tuition fees. To pay for free higher education they will introduce a 50p tax rate on incomes over £100,000....

Congratulations Brent East.

Sarah has been unanimously re-selected by Brent Liberal Democrats to fight the next General Election. You can read the news story on this over at the BELD website. Sarah said she would be campaigning for a renewed mandate from the electorate of Brent East on local issues such as civic neglect, neighbourhood policing, housing problems and post office closures. Her efforts would continue in the House of Commons tackling ID cards, detention without trail and student tuition fees....

Feeling blue?

I wasn’t sure who the campaign material that recently popped through my front door belonged to. I wasn’t inclined to turn the flyer over really… I read the Guardian & the Indy, I get enough conservative bashing on a daily basis to have toned it out. But who was it from… Labour or Lib Dem? A closer inspection and I trained my eye on the graphic in the bottom corner which gave it away as anti-tory material published by Brent Lib Dems....

Public Servants. mySociety have launched WriteToThem.com, the successor to the multi-award-winning FaxYourMP.com. WriteToThem lets people write to any of their elected representatives: MPs, MSPs, MEPs, Welsh or London assembly members, and last (but certainly not least) their local councillors. Polidex dropped....

They said they’d be back soon…. They are almost as bad as me! Low output here over the last eight weeks. I’ve been rather busy, spending my time studying for a BA Politics, Economics and Public policy… My studies have had greater importance than my indulgent ramblings here. Besides… she’s your MP too - email me to become a contributor to this blog. But a few things have happend, not least the promotion of our Sarah to Liberal Democrat spokesman for London....
